Rambling Plans

I'm going to see more old things tomorrow!  Ostia Antica used to be Rome's port town at the mouth of the Tiber.  With time and large deposits of silt from the river, however, it now lies at a distance of three kilometers from the sea.  It's still close to Rome, though, so the plan is to drop the kids off at school, see what we can see in a few hours, and zip back before 3:00.

Psych!!!  In the process of writing this blog post, I decided to do a little research and discovered that along with pretty much all public museums in Italy, the site is closed on Mondays.  We can't go.  :(  On Tuesday and Thursday I have Italian class.  Wednesday, Lea has to work early.  Friday, she leaves. Boo!

Well, I guess it's back to the plan to visit churches.  It's really surprising I haven't visited many of the most famous.  Do you know that I don't even have a proper guide book to Rome?

Hahaha...that makes me feel so powerful, as if I were holding my blog hostage in exchange for glowing praise and adoring comments. But no, it was simply a matter of life speeding up faster than my normal schedule and I didn't quite know when to blog! I'll try to write tonight. Sorry!

Ah, snap! I wish I still had my Ren-Modern Art History textbook from Hillsdale: that thing would make an excellent city guide! Studied many beautiful buildings in Rome. And, I know I’ve mentioned this, but Angels and Demons! You should watch that and write down all the places they go and spend a day going to all those places in the order they follow in the movie! Although you would probably not be granted access to the Vatican Archives...Or should I say, l’ archivo Vatican...maybe.

Oh, you're right (about both things...the art history and "Angels and Demons") Every time you talk about your HC art classes I wish I'd had the foresight to take one. And my dad would be thrilled if we got to go to the Archives. :)
